18. Eugene John Barvian Esq. was born on Mar 20 1884 in Town of Bennington, NY. (2) He was baptized after Mar 20 1884 in Sheldon, NY. (2) His Godparents were John Metzger and Mary Glaser. It has been reported by his Granddaughter that his hair was red and consequently, he was sometimes known as "Red."  He got his law degree at Cornell in 1906 and married in 1908.

From the Barvian Family History, JAB53:

"Eugene John Barvian was a lawyer and had a law office in White Plains, New York. He graduated from Cornell University Law School. Eugene and his wife are both buried in Mount Calvery Cemetary in White Plains, New York."

The 1910 census confirms that Eugene was a "General Practice" Lawyer.

His 1917 draft card has an address "16 Clinton St." and his hair color (light) eye color (gray) and build (Medium height, small build)

This fabulous personal sketch can be found in the Cornell Senior Class book for the Class of 1906:

EUGENE JOHN BARVIAN, known to some as "Beef," was
born on the 2Oth day of March, 1884. He doesn't know
where, and the writer hasn't the means of finding out.
He has been very particular in choosing his company,
but despite this fact, some of his friends have accused
him of an attempt to cultivate the friendship of Ithaca's
"high society." "Preposterous! Absurd!" says the sage
of East Aurora. His friends say he would have made the
football team had he tried, and that the only reason he
did not try was that he was an extremely ambitious
student, and consequently could not find time to report
at Percy Field. The writer feels, however, that some of
"Beef's" friends are too partial.

He died on Apr 6, 1940 at age 56.(2) (obit - Courtesy of Scott Barvian)
19. Margaret DuBois was born on Apr 24 1880 in East Aurora, NY.(2) Margaret's mother died just after she was born and for a time she lived with her father, grandmother, and great-grandfather in Wales, NY. In 1885 when she was 5, her father remarried, moved with is new wife to East Aurora NY, had a cluster of boys, and then a girl 1898. I imagined she was with them all until she moved into a boarding house (Also in East Aurora) and got a job as a schoolteacher around 1900, but she is not listed with them on the census of 1892

In 1908 she married Eugene John Barvian when she was 27 or 28.

I find it intriguing that Margaret is 4 years older than Eugene.  A fact which is confirmed by the 1910 census in which he is 26 and she is 30.

George Platt Potter confirmed that Margaret was an elementary school teacher and used to help him with math problems when he was a young boy.

She died in 1970 and is buried at Mt. Calvery Cemetery located at 575 Hillside Ave in White Plains.
