4. George Platt Potter was born in on December 5th, 1941 in White Plaines, NY. He received an M.D. from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY.

A memorial service for George Platt Potter, M.D., 65, of Coos Bay will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2250 16th St., in North Bend, with the Rev. Karl Schray officiating.

Dr. Potter was born Dec. 5, 1941, in White Plains, N.Y., the son of Leman and Margaret (Barvian) Potter. He died of causes related to sarcoma on May 24, 2007, in Coos Bay.

He was a graduate of Alfred University and Albany Medical College in New York state. He was with the Public Health Service at Eagle Butte, S.D.; and received specialty training at Wadsworth Veterans Affairs Hospital in Los Angeles. Dr. Potter had lived and worked with his family as an involved member of the community since 1972. He was an internist at Bay Clinic until 2005. He had integrity and a high work ethic, and taught those things to others.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His love for things outdoors was complimented by a deep appreciation for music and knowledge. He always had time to explain and teach, and set the bar high for all those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Potter of Coos Bay; five children, L. Wesley Potter of Valencia, Calif., P. Aaron Potter of Riverside, Calif., Joshua J. Potter of Assaria, Kan., Maia A. Potter of Medford and Gabriel G. Potter of Rochester, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren, Damon, Zackery, Aiden, Peyton, Riley, Charlotte, Bradyn and Ellery.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
