70. George Washington Platt was born in 1833.(23) He died in 1906.(23) He was a jeweler and assayer on Maiden Lane in New York City.(23) He is said to have been the one to purchase the Summer home on Lake Placid that is still in the Platt/Potter/Jones family.

He was married to Mary C. Coles on Sep, 16 1857 in New York, NY. (24)

From the Brooklyn Daily Standard Union

May 10 1906:

"George Washington PLATT, who died on Tuesday at his home, 1144 South Oxford street, in his seventy-second year, was a lineal descendant of Isaac PLATT, who settled at Huntington in 1666. He retired from the assaying and refining business twenty-five years ago. He leaves a daughter. The funeral services will be held to-morrow night at 8 o'clock.  The Rev. Dr. Case will officiate at the services, and interment will be made at the convenience of the family. The funeral arrangements will be under the direction of G. W. SMITH, of 133 South Oxford street."

 
71. Mary Caroline Coles was born in 1834.(25) She died in 1865.(26)
