Clarke Dorman was born Feb. 11, 1788 in East Windsor, CT. His family moved to Tolland, MA about 1793 when he was 5. In 1809, when he was 21, he bought 9 acres
of land there for $1,975. He also bought land later in Wilbraham, but might not have ever lived there. After he and Phoebe married, they moved to
Colebrook, CT where all of his children were born. He was a clothier.
This is mentioned many times and in many places. in 1823, Clarke Droman, clothier, bought land in Otis and Becket, MA.
After their children grew up and moved away, between 1850-1860, they moved to Lee, MA. Clarke still sold clothing. He died in 1860 (two months after his last will was written). |
Phoebe Smith was born on June 19, 1793 in Sandisfield, MA to Benjamin and Pheobe (Snow) Smith, She had 7 children, between age 20 and age 37,
at least 6 of whom, it seems, lived to marry. 6 of them also appear to be girls. Phoebe |
