Daniel W. b. 2 Oct. 1786; Married Mary P. Remington Clarke b., 11 feb. 1788; m. Phoebe Smith| Stephen Dorman was born in Coventry on April 3, 1749, making it a good (and correct) guess that he would serve in the Revolutionary war. He served about 4 years as a sergeant in the Connecticut line from 1778 to 1783. After leaving the Army, he bought land in East Windsor Connecticut He wasted no time after that wooing and marrying Roxana Grover aged 20 (he was about 36). Sadly, Roxana died in 1789, and Stephen was left a widower with 2 very young sons (Clarke was only 1 and 1/2. In 1791, he remarried to Dorcas king who was 31. He sold the land he still owned from Coventry for 20 pounds, and in 1793 he and Dorcas and the 2 boys moved across the state line to the Granville West Society (now Tolland, MA), They still resided there in 1800. In 1810, the Hartford Paper The Connecticut Courant printed a notice os death and he was buried with his first wife in South Windsor, Ct. |
Roxana Grover was born on Mar 25 1765, married, had two boys and died tragically young at age 24. |
