II 1. Samuel, (Thomas)
(1640-1694), of Narragansett, 1663 and 1671; Wickford, 1668;
Portsmouth, 1677 to 1694. In 1663, July 3, he an others of Naragansett
desired to be under protection of Connecticut only; in 1668, May 4, he
and others of Wickford petitioned the Connecticut authorities to
reassume the protection of the settlemen, or that they might look for
government and portection elsewhere; in 1671, May 20, he took oath of
allegiance to Rhode Island; in 1673, May 6, he was a freeman; in 1677,
Feb 11, he was at Portsmouth. He and his wife Hannah deeded to Thomas
the house and all the land in Portsmouth, given and appointed by will
made by the Town Council, being 30 acres, which had been owned by the
father of said Samuel and Thomas; 1685, Feb 2, he was a freeman and
conveyed to thomas; 1693, Mar 30, he sold to William Burrington for 50
(pounds) two pieces of land in Portsmouth, with houses, etc., one piece
of land containing 16 acres and the other being 2 acres; in 1694, May
7, at Kings Town, he sold James Reynolds Sr. 50 acres in Kings Town for
12 (pounds) Samuel and Hannah (Whitman?) had 4 children.
