Obituary: George Terrill Poage, father of Mrs Alice Connrarady Died Monday at His Nebraska Home. George Terrill Poage was born near Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, October 23rd, 1820, and died at his home in Hubbell, Thayer Co Nebraska, March 23rd, 1908, being 87yrs, 5mo. old the day of his death. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Vermilion County, Illinois, and grew to manhood there and was married to Miss Sarah Hamlin April 21, 1842, and resided in Illinois until the year 1864 and then came to Audubon Co, Iowa, residing here for thirty-six years, being one of the early settlers. Eight years ago they moved to Hubell, Nebraska, living there until his death.
To this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys, seven of which - Mary M. Leney of Smithland, Iowa; Amanda Wright of Harrisburg, Nebraska; Rebecca Crane of Hubbell, Nebraska; Alice Connrarady of Exira, Iowa; James A. of Salem, Oregon; George B. of Fish Creek, Wyoming; and W.D. Poage of Castana, Iowa - with their mother survice the father an mourn his loss. Five of the children were present at the funeral which was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Connrarady in Exira, conducted by E.W.Bates, pastor of the M.E. church.
The deceased was converted and joined the M.E. church forty years ago and with his companion has been faithful until death claimed him and the Master said it is enough; come up higher. He waited long and patiently for the summons to leave the scenes of earth with the church triumphant, meeting the end in peace.
We the companion and children of the deceased, desire to express our sincere thanks for the kindness of friends and neighbors in the burial of our dear husband and father. Mrs. Sarah Poage and children."
