Samuel Price The history of Sussex County speaks of the Price family as "being one of the most prominent in the early settlement of Frankford, New Jersey". The three brothers (John, Samuel and Robert) were of English extraction. In Connecticut they (the two eldest) were extensive shippers, owned vessels, and sailed in their own ships. A series of losses by shipwreck determined them to leave the sea and try their fortune on land. They came to New Jersey and finally settled in Frankford where Samuel and Robert died. John returned to sea-faring life. Of Samuel's brother Robert: Robert when a lad was captured by the Indians and his mother also She having some knowledge of the Indian language knew what her fate would be and warned her son to make no outcry. After the murder of his mother. Robert was adopted by a squaw who had lost her child. He was in captivity till his twenty first year when he was rescued and brought back to civilization. For some years he had a great desire to return to the roving life of the Indians but finally settled in Frankford where he died.
