MA, where he was admitted a freeman on Sep. 3, 1634. John received five lands
grants, totalling about 55 acres. Married by 1634 Dorothy, who probably married
second William POTTER of Watertown, and later of Stamford, CT. Children: Hannah
married John MEAD; and Mary.
9.Edmund - bap. May 4, 1600, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire; d. about 1665, possibly
abroad 'in the Countrey of Serrenam' (Suriname). Edmund was admitted to the Church
at Boston on Jun. 22, 1634, and was granted land there on Jan. 8, 1637/8. Various
documents indicate that Edmund as a co-owner of the ketch Hope, of which he was
Master when it sailed in Feb. 1663. In Jul. 1630, the ship was at Nevis and bound
for Jamaica, and the last record is that the ship was at the Cayman Islands in
Jul. 1664. Land listed in the inventory of Edmund estate was sold on Jan. 1,
1672. Married Feb. 14, 1653/4, Boston, MA to Elizabeth OAKLEY (b. about 1630;
died 1670/2. Children: Mary; and John.

11.Hannah - bap. Jan. 13, 1604/5, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. She has been
identified as Anna, who married by 1638 Matthew INES (b. about 1613; d. about
Apr. 1661), who called Edmund BROWNE his brother-in-law. However, based on Hannah's
age at marriage (34) and at the birth of Matthew Ines' youngest child (50), it
may be that the wife of Matthew INES was a sister of Edmund BROWNE's wife, and
therefore Anna OAKLEY. Matthew was an innkeeper, and was admitted to the Boston
church on Apr. 20, 1634. Matthew's estate was inventoried Apr. 16, 1661, and
included land at Muddy River and at Long Island. Children: John married Elizabeth;
Elizabeth married Richard RANDALL; Thomas had marriage to Mary ARNOLD published;
Rebecca married Francis THOMAS; Mathias died young; Edward died young; Samuel
married Sarah BELCHER; Anne died as infant; William died as infant; Anne died
as infant; and Catharine (b. 1655) died young.
